Our Impact
How?
Mapping the skill gap is identifying the skills that are currently available in the job market and the skills that are needed to meet the demands of the job market. For this, we train our students using an AI-driven Edtech platform to develop skills in English Communications, Sales, Critical Thinking, Collaboration & Professionalism within a short 3 months’ period.
We map the skills required by employees
What?
The SAGE Foundation has built strong relationships with NGOs, corporate CSR funds, foundations, and local communities over the last 16 years to train 15000+ underprivileged youth, and help them get jobs in the corporate world with starting salaries ranging from Rs.2.50 Lakh to Rs.5 Lakh per annum.
A recent survey revealed that 100% of our graduates still retained their jobs in spite of widespread COVID related layoffs.
Why?
‘Our youth is India`s power. We care to make a difference. We care to nurture them.’
Poverty is much more than just not having money. One of the dire consequences of poverty, as seen in today’s age, is that low-income youth are denied or withheld from opportunities in the educational domain .Therefore, we aim to present a high-quality education to such a young workforce and train them for high-paying white-collar jobs in the BFSI sector.
It is important to note that poverty is a complex issue that is affected by a variety of factors such as access to affordable housing, healthcare, and childcare, as well as discrimination and systemic inequality. A comprehensive approach that addresses these underlying issues in addition to providing education and training opportunities may be more effective in helping low-income youth escape poverty.
Due to increased contractualization, a preference for capital investment over labour, and strict labour laws, blue-collar jobs in sectors such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metals, cement, rubber, and electrical machinery are among the lowest-paid jobs in India
Hence, training low income youth for blue collar jobs will not help lift their families out of poverty.
On the other hand, 48% of Indian corporates in the BFSI, FMCG, IT/ITES, Logistics & Retail sectors find it difficult to fill entry level executive job roles according to Manpower Group’s annual Talent Shortage Survey. The India Skills Report 2021 says that many companies will focus on remote work & online customer interactions after the COVID lockdown. Hence most entry level jobs will be in the customer sales & support areas where employees are skilled at remote interactions. Entry level employees who have English communication, sales and technical skills will be in well suited for these jobs. Unfortunately, a majority of youth from low-income families usually cannot aspire for these jobs as they lack the above mentioned skills.
The SAGE Foundation’s white-collar job-skills program enables low-income youth get trained & placed in white collar jobs within a 90 days’ time period.
Overall, The SAGE Foundation’s vision is to provide the youth with the tools and resources they need to succeed in today’s economy and to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
